KIS Styling & Finishing brings together the products professional stylists use to colour, care for and finish hair, all from the Dutch salon brand KIS. The range runs from KeraCream Color hair dye and developers to treatments such as KeraMoist and KeraMax, plus styling products like Powder Bomb Texturizing Volume Powder and Finishing Spray. Whether you work in a salon or colour at home, you can build a complete routine from one line.
What to look for in styling, finishing and colour products
Styling and finishing products shape the final look, while colour and care products determine how healthy the hair is underneath. A good routine usually combines both. Texturizing powders and sprays add grip, volume or hold, but they do not repair damage. Care lines such as shampoos and treatments work on moisture, strength or frizz over several washes. Permanent hair colour needs a matching developer, and the percentage decides how much lift you get: a lower percentage is gentler and lifts less. Choose products by hair type and goal, and use heat protection and colour-safe care if your hair is coloured.
Hair colour and developers
KeraCream Color is KIS's permanent cream colour, sold in single shades and in sets that pair a shade with a developer. The N in shades such as 6-N, 7-N and 8-N stands for natural tones, and the number shows the depth, from light brown to light blonde. Colour needs a developer, and KIS - Oxy Creme Developer 3% is a gentle choice for toning or depositing colour. For more lift or grey coverage you need a stronger developer, such as the 20 volume (6%) one. Always do a strand and patch test first, and follow the mixing ratio on the pack. Note that colour on already coloured hair can look darker at the ends than at the roots.
Choosing a developer strength
3% is for toning and refreshing, 6% for covering grey and lifting about one level. Higher strengths lift more but are harder on the hair, so only go higher if the result you want requires it.
Care for damaged, dry or frizzy hair
KIS offers care lines for different needs. KeraMoist suits dry hair that needs moisture, KeraMax is aimed at hair that needs strengthening, and KeraControl is meant for frizz. Each line has a shampoo and a treatment that work best together. KIS KeraMoist Treatment is a sensible follow-up to the KeraMoist Shampoo if your hair feels dry after colouring. These products improve how the hair feels and behaves, but they cannot permanently repair split ends. Use the treatment after shampooing, leave it on for the time stated and rinse well.
Styling and finishing
Powder Bomb Texturizing Volume Powder adds lift and grip at the roots, which helps fine hair hold a style. Finishing Spray sets the result at the end. Use powder on dry hair, shake a little at the roots and massage in. Spray from about 25 cm away to avoid a stiff, wet look. If you want shine rather than hold, the Shine Gloss Shampoo and Shine Enhancing Conditioner work on the base of the routine. Styling products build up, so wash them out regularly with a clarifying or regular shampoo.
Salon essentials and pumps
