A hair mask is the part of your routine that does the heavy lifting, and KIS builds its masks around specific needs such as repair, moisture and colour care. The KIS treatments are salon products, meant for hair that needs more than a regular conditioner can give. This category covers the KIS masks and treatments, along with related care products from the same brand. Below you can read which one suits which hair type and how to use it.
A hair mask is a more concentrated care product than a conditioner. It contains a higher level of conditioning and repairing ingredients, which is why it is left on for several minutes instead of seconds. The ingredients settle on the hair surface and, depending on the formula, help to smooth the cuticle, add moisture or support damaged fibres. Masks work best on clean, towel-dried hair, because excess water dilutes the product. Most people use one once a week, or every other week for hair that is only lightly stressed. A mask does not repair split ends permanently, since hair is not living tissue. It can make the hair feel and look healthier until the damaged ends are cut off. Choose the mask based on what your hair needs most: strength, moisture or colour protection.
KeraMax is the KIS line aimed at hair that feels weak, brittle or overworked. This usually concerns hair that has been bleached, heat-styled often or coloured several times. Use the treatment after shampooing, work it through the lengths and ends, and leave it on for the time stated on the label. KIS KeraMax Shampoo is the matching wash step, so you can build a full routine within one line. Fine hair does best with a small amount, as too much product can make it feel heavy. A treatment is a support for damaged hair, not a cure: regular trims remain necessary.
Start at the ends, where hair is oldest and driest, and work upwards. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb for an even spread. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
KeraMoist is meant for hair that feels dry, rough or dull because it lacks moisture. It suits thick, curly or coloured hair that tends to lose moisture quickly. Apply it to damp hair after washing with KIS KeraMoist Shampoo and leave it in for a few minutes. Moisture-focused care mainly improves softness and manageability. If your hair is dry because of heavy damage, you may need a repair-oriented treatment as well.
Coloured hair loses shine and tone faster when the cuticle is rough, and a colour-protecting treatment helps keep the surface smooth. KIS Color Protective Treatment is designed for this purpose. Use it regularly between colour sessions, especially if your colour is a warm or fashion shade that fades quickly. It will slow fading but cannot stop it entirely, because washing, sun and heat all play a part. Washing with lukewarm water and not too often makes the biggest difference alongside the treatment.
KIS KeraTreat (Salon Care) and KIS KeraBoost Infusion are intensive products for use at home or in the salon. They are suited to hair that needs a more focused treatment than a weekly mask. Follow the instructions per product, since the application time and frequency differ. Use them as a boost for a limited period rather than at every wash. Hair that is in good condition does not need this level of care.
