Which developer strength should I use?

What does the N in 7-N mean?

N stands for natural. The number before it is the depth of the shade, from dark to light, so 7-N is a natural medium blonde.

Can I go much lighter with permanent colour?

How does permanent hair colour work?

Permanent hair colour consists of two parts: a colour cream and a developer (oxidant). When mixed, the developer opens the hair cuticle and lets the colour pigments develop inside the hair. This is why the result does not simply wash out, although it will fade slowly over time. The strength of the developer, shown as a percentage or volume, determines how much lift you get. A lower percentage suits tone-on-tone work and covering, a higher one lifts the natural colour further. The shade numbers follow the standard level system: the first number is the depth (5 is light brown, 8 is light blonde) and the letter shows the tone, where N stands for natural. Permanent colour is a chemical treatment, so a strand test and a patch test beforehand are always advisable.

KeraCream Color: choosing your shade

Aftercare for coloured hair
