Whether you want a soft finish or firm control, there is a product type for it. How do you choose the right OSiS+ styling product?
Styling products differ mainly in hold, finish and texture. Sprays and gels give hold, powders and texturisers add grip and volume, and waxes shape and define sections. Start with the result you want: a flexible, natural look or a firm, structured finish. Then look at your hair type. Fine hair usually does best with light products such as powder or a flexible spray, while thick or curly hair can handle heavier products like wax or gel. Most styling products are applied to dry hair as a finishing step, while gels are usually applied to damp hair. Use a small amount first and add more if needed, because styling products build up and are harder to work with when overused.
OSiS+ Hairspray for hold and finish
Hairspray is the last step in a styling routine and locks in the shape you have created. The OSiS+ range includes sprays with different hold levels, from flexible to extra strong. Choose a lighter hold if you want movement and a natural feel. Choose a firmer hold for updos, braids or styles that must last through a long day. Spray from about 25 to 30 centimetres away, so the product spreads evenly and does not make the hair stiff. Hairspray does not nourish the hair, so wash it out thoroughly to prevent build-up.
OSiS+ Volume Powder for lift at the roots
Volume powder is a dry styling product that adds grip and lift to the hair. It works well for fine, flat hair that does not hold a style by itself. Shake a little into the roots, massage it in with your fingertips and style as usual. It also helps with texture in updos, because the hair is less slippery. The effect is a matte, light finish, so it is not a product for a wet-look or shiny result. Use it sparingly, as too much powder can leave a visible residue on darker hair.

OSiS+ Gel for definition and control
Gel gives firm hold and a clear shape, which makes it suited to slicked-back styles, short cuts and defined partings. It is applied to damp or dry hair, depending on the finish you want. Damp hair gives a smoother result and dry hair gives more texture. A flexible gel lets you restyle, while a strong gel sets hard. Be careful with the amount: too much gel can feel stiff or leave flakes when it dries.
OSiS+ Curls and Waves for natural movement
Products for curls and waves help define the shape of a curl, control frizz and add bounce. They are meant for hair with a natural wave or curl, or for hair that has been curled with a tool. Work the product through damp hair, scrunch gently and let it dry in the air or with a diffuser. Avoid brushing the hair once it has dried, as this breaks up the curl pattern and creates frizz. These products are not a substitute for a conditioner or a leave-in treatment, so keep the hair hydrated separately.
OSiS+ Wax for shape and texture
Wax is made for shaping and separating sections of hair. It is useful for short and medium-length styles, where you want to emphasise pieces and add a textured finish. Warm a small amount between your palms until it is soft, then work it through dry hair. Start with a pea-sized amount, because wax is hard to remove from fine hair once you have applied too much. The finish depends on the product: some waxes give a matte look, others give more shine. Wash the product out with a clarifying shampoo if it builds up.
OSiS+ Long Hair Texture for longer lengths
Longer hair needs a different approach to texture, because the weight of the length pulls styles flat. Long Hair Texture products are designed to add grip and shape to longer lengths, for example for braids, half-up styles and beach waves. Apply the product to the mid-lengths and ends, and avoid the roots if your hair is fine. Combine it with a heat tool or a braid-out for the best definition. These products give structure rather than repair, so they do not replace a conditioner or mask for dry or damaged lengths.
