Cobalt steel is known worldwide. Less known is that there are many grades of cobalt steel. For the Kyone Premium shears V-Gold Cobalt steel is used; one of the best cobalt steels currently available. The abbreviation for this steel type is VG-10. What makes this steel special is the high percentages of molybdenum, vanadium and cobalt contained in it. The hardness and wear resistance are excellent, making the metal exceptionally suitable for shears that must have a long service life — and of course without too much maintenance or conditioning of the shear.

The Kyone Premium 2600 is ground using an improved sharpening technique. This gives the cutting blades a completely different convex angle. This angle is reduced by up to 10 degrees, which can result in up to 20% higher cutting capacity. The result is much sharper blades that encounter less resistance while cutting. Less resistance means a longer lifespan for the shear.
Unrivalled high hardness and wear resistance!
After heating the metal, it is important that the shears are cooled as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. Nitrogen tempered cooling, so-called ‘deep cooling’, is done with nitrogen and is achievable to temperatures of -185 degrees. The shears are even cooled around this temperature for several hours. This method gives the metal higher hardness and better wear resistance.
